It seems like ages since the North America DataBar implementation began in December 2005. Now, in June 2010 nearly five years later it appears that most if not all commodities are being labeled with the barcode but apples, pears, bananas, vegetables (mostly tomatoes and peppers) and stonefruit have the highest concentration of DataBar labels.
At the end of 2009, it was estimated that about 50% of all labels in the US featured a DataBar code, and now it is believed that at the end of 2010, approximately 70% of labeled produce in North America will feature a DataBar code. |
